Apple trees have been growing in Haliburton County for over a century. They have survived a climate with short growing seasons and harsh winters and they continue to produce apples.  Apple trees in Haliburton area special renewable resource.

ATIP Haliburton purpose is to identify and increase awareness of existing old apple trees, highlight the need for their care and maintenance, renew an existing food resource, increase availability of locally grown and produced products, increase food security, increase food self sufficiency, help reduce environmental cost of food transportation from outside Haliburton County and increase business and tourism.
